Mica Estrada

Mica Estrada is the Associate Dean for Opportunity and Engagement and a Professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Institute for Health and Aging at the University of California at San Francisco’s School of Nursing. She is also Senior Strategist of Operations for the UCSF Leadership Institute. She has led, as Principal Investigator, several longitudinal studies, which implement and assess interventions aimed to increase student persistence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics & Medicine (STEMM) careers (funded by NIH, NSF, and HHMI). Her research program and facilitation work advance knowledge on social influence, including the study of identity, values, kindness, well-being, and integrative education in the context of mentorship and leadership. Dr. Estrada earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Harvard University. On a personal note, Dr. Estrada is mother to three grown children, enjoys thinking about the mystical and shares her daily life with Chaplain Carl Magruder in the San Francisco Bay Area.
